The second edition of this anthology contains twenty-two pivotal inves tigations in the philosophy of economics. The editor has expanded and updated coverage of such key areas as ethics and economics and the rhetoric of economics. Daniel M. Hausman's revised introduction and section introductions situate the contributions in their historical and analytical contexts and help the reader achieve a more systematic over view of economic methodology. Recommended readings, which now follow the selections, enable readers to pursue the issues developed in each of the selections. The collection provides a comprehensive and organized introduction to economic methodology for students and pro fessionals in economics, philosophy, and the other social sciences, as well as for a more general audience.

Daniel M. Hausman is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a coeditor of the journal Economics and Philosophy, and his other recent works include The Inexact and Separate Science of Economics (1992) and Essays on Philosophy and Economic Methodology (1992).
